Updating this 1980's condo into a comfortable, contemporary home, revolved around the kitchen. The goal was to accomplish this without replacing the cabinets and spending a fortune. The upper wall and cabinets were removed between the living room and kitchen opening space up to create a great room effect and bring light into a dark space. Laminate panel cabinets with oak trim were painted off white. The exposed end of the island was wrapped and edge mitered to the top with a aqua Quartzite granite Labradorite slab countertop creating a fabulous focal point. Budget minded 18 x18 honed absolute granite tile was used for the perimeter countertop with a metallic porcelain and glass mosaic tile backsplash.
